Local food, from your own area
Community FarmTable is launching in Chicago. Ordering isn't open yet: no producers are signed up and there is nothing to buy today. Join the waitlist and we'll contact you when we launch in your area.
Join the customer waitlistWhy we're building this
What we believe, in our own words. These are our views, not measured results.
Our food system is broken, and it doesn't have to be
Produce grows out of the ground. Getting it from a field to a table near that field should be simple. Today it isn't.
Food prices follow things that have nothing to do with food
Grocery prices are tied to long-distance transport, and transport is tied to global oil prices and events far away. A vegetable grown down the road shouldn't cost more because of that.
Scale has pushed out the small farmer
Large centralized farms have taken out small farmers through scale. We think local farms, gardens and growers should have a real role again.
Food should be food
We believe food should be grown as nature intended, not engineered as intellectual property. Prepared food on CFT must be made from ingredients you would recognize in your own kitchen, with every ingredient listed.
Your food should come from your own area
At launch, each customer will see producers within 150 miles of where they live, so food travels a short distance.
What we plan to offer
These are plans for launch. The sample listings show the kinds of items we expect, with example prices.
Ingredients
Produce, meat, dairy, eggs and pantry goods listed by growers, gardeners and farms near you.
Prepared meals
Ready-to-eat food from local cooks and kitchens, made only with ingredients you would find in a home kitchen.
Meal kits and CSA boxes
Pre-portioned ingredients with a recipe, and boxes of whatever local producers have that week.
How it will work
Producers from your own area
You will see producers within 150 miles of where you live, not the whole network.
Every ingredient listed
Prepared food must list every ingredient, and each one must be something normally found in a home kitchen.
Producers set their own prices
Producers list their own items and set their own prices. CFT never sets or changes a price.
Delivery, pickup and membership options haven't been decided yet. We'll announce them before launch.
